Statement: GAIN Coalition Seeks Quick Resolution to New Claim in Pennsylvania
Yesterday the Chester County District Attorney’s office announced a criminal investigation into the construction of the Mariner East Pipeline Project. District Attorney Tom Hogan claims the list of potential charges includes “causing or risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief, environmental crimes and corrupt organizations”.
The following is a statement from the GAIN Coalition, which you can attribute to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the Coalition:
“The Mariner East pipeline project has already overcome numerous legal challenges, which have consistently resulted in the courts finding the project was legally permitted and in compliance with safety requirements. This latest development only puts the integrity of the regulatory process in Pennsylvania into question, jeopardizing the billions of dollars in investments in the state –as private investment needs regulatory certainty to flourish. The GAIN Coalition hopes that this unfounded claim can be quickly resolved.”
