GAIN Statement on GOP Federal Energy Proposal
Earlier today, six House Republicans proposed the American Energy First Act to provide a road map for American onshore and offshore energy policy. The bill promotes further domestic energy production, and ranges from boosting renewable sources to streamlining oil and gas development. The bill comes as an alternative option to legislation that House Democrats plan to vote on this week that would significantly limit oil and gas development in many parts of the United States.
Below is a statement that can be attributed to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition:
“It is reassuring to see Congress giving attention to our nation’s energy future. Domestically-produced energy creates well-paying jobs and economic opportunity, bolsters our national security, and provides reliable, affordable energy for American consumers. The federal government must welcome investment in energy exploration and modern infrastructure while ensuring regulatory certainty and a straightforward permitting process.”
