GAIN Statement on 2022 Midterm Election Results

Today, media outlets confirmed Republicans have won a majority of the seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. This announcement follows news that Democrats would keep their Senate majority regardless of which candidate wins the runoff election in Georgia on December 5th.

Please find below a statement from me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition and former senior advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman:

“More than 100 million Americans exercised their right to vote in this year’s 2022 midterm elections and from the results it is clear that the American people want Congress to work together, in a bipartisan manner, to address the issues impacting their lives.

“With much of the cost-of-living increases being driven by high energy prices – particularly gasoline, diesel, and electricity – lawmakers in the new Congress must address the core imbalance between energy supply and demand by unleashing the American energy industry.

“This includes increasing oil and gas exploration, reforming our country’s antiquated permitting laws, streamlining transmission and reining in out of control regulatory agencies.”
