GAIN Statement on EPA Proposed Vehicle Emissions Standards
Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a proposal for new federal vehicle emissions standards. The press release for the proposal said that the new standards would “accelerate the ongoing transition to a clean vehicles future.”
Below is a statement that can be attributed to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition and former senior advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman:
“The EPA’s latest proposal is another example of the Biden administration’s hostile policies against American energy. Their proposed vehicle emissions standards would result in a hidden tax on American families who would be required to buy more expensive automobiles. The Biden administration should simply allow the market to evolve in a way that makes sense for American consumers.”
