Republican Governors Urge Biden to Unleash American Energy
Today, Governors Jeff Landry (LA), Mike Dunleavy (AK), Brian Kemp (GA), Jim Pillen (NE), Chris Sununu (NH), Kevin Stitt (OK) and Glenn Youngkin (VA) gathered in Chalmette Louisiana to share their vision for unleashing American energy. The Governors emphasized the need to prioritize innovation in the energy industry to strengthen domestic production and lower costs for hardworking Americans. Similarly, they called for an end to the federal government’s regulatory regime that has increased our nation’s dependence on countries such as China, which controls a significant amount of the rare earth minerals necessary to produce electric vehicles. Below is a statement that can be attributed to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition and former senior advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman: “The Biden administration has hamstrung the American energy sector since day one. De-facto mandates for electric vehicles, the continual drawdown of our strategic petroleum reserve, and the ban on liquid natural gas export permits are just a few short-sighted policies that could have long-term effects on our energy security. It is encouraging to hear these Governors’ calls for commonsense energy policies. As they outlined, pursuing an all-of-the-above strategy means utilizing all the tools at our disposal—not picking winners and losers. The U.S. should remove its regulatory barriers against the energy industry and allow the free market to support all types of energy innovation.” |
