Delay to Die Tactics Claim Win, Putting Energy Security in Jeopardy
Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. District has directed the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to reconsider its approval of the proposed Commonwealth LNG terminal in Southwest Louisiana.
Below is a statement that can be attributed to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition and former senior advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman:
“This ruling undermines FERC’s long-established authority and creates chaos and uncertainty in the permitting process. Such instability will deter essential investment in energy infrastructure at a time of unprecedented energy demand. As environmental groups continue to throw Billionaires’ money behind the delay-to-die tactics, average Americans worry if their lights will stay on. Permitting delays undermine the U.S. LNG industry and has devastating consequences for our allies in Europe, who rely on U.S. energy exports to bolster their energy security.”
