Douglas: Trump’s Energy Orders Will Secure American Dominance

Writing in RealClear Energy, GAIN Advisor Patrice Douglas’ op-ed, “Trump’s Energy Orders Will Help Secure American Dominance,” highlights how President Donald Trump’s immediate executive orders will help to ensure his promise of unleashing American energy.

The Trump Administration has taken sizable action through executive orders to bolster America’s oil and gas industry. As Douglas notes, Trump’s declaration of a “national energy emergency” to reverse the parts of the previous administration’s policies his administration felt had hamstrung progress. Additional orders included efforts to expedited permitting, increase oil and gas drilling, streamline infrastructure projects, and promote Alaskan energy development.

These strategic actions will help catalyze the private sector’s ability to harness domestic resources and meet growing energy demand for years, Douglas argues. Moreover, the energy grid will garner greater investments, modernization, and reliability.

President Trump’s energy related executive orders will also facilitate the creation of good paying jobs. For example, data centers require effective and efficient energy sources and those projects will increase employment opportunities in logistics, construction and maintenance. As the piece notes, improving the ability to construct vital energy infrastructure projects will be paramount. Pipeline companies are already in talks with technology firms interested in data centers to provide projects with direct access to natural gas. Douglas writes, “in line with his goal to facilitate economic growth through energy dominance, President Trump announced plans to invest nearly $500 billion in data center construction through a new venture dubbed ‘Stargate.’” The orders to review the current federal red tape, especially with regards to permitting, will help power the data centers that are constructed under this venture.

The Trump Administration’s energy initiatives will give the American people greater national security, increase local and state economies, and strengthen energy dominance.
