GAIN Statement on the Consumer Price Index Surging 8.2 percent in September
Today, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics announced the Consumer Price Index increased 0.4% in September and 8.2% over the past 12 months. Inflation in America remains at a near four-decade high and high energy costs are burdening Americans across the country.
Below is a statement that can be attributed to me, Craig Stevens, spokesman for the GAIN Coalition:
“Americans are continuing to feel the weight of President Biden’s self-made energy crisis. With the latest CPI number coming in higher than expected and U.S. energy production still off of pre-COVID levels, American families will be facing higher energy costs this winter.
“The current energy crisis is one of President Biden’s own doing and is a direct result of his administration’s hostile energy policies. The Keystone XL pipeline and additional U.S. energy development could have provided more than a million barrels of additional fuel per day to keep America moving – but the President’s energy policy shut them down.
“Instead of expanding American energy, this administration’s strategy has been to deplete our nation’s emergency reserves and rely on foreign nations to ship us their oil. President Biden can rehabilitate his flailing energy strategy and ease the burden on American families by unleashing domestic energy production and supporting energy infrastructure.”
